On April 7th last year, OlymPINK was launched. We like to think of it as the little swim meet that could.
It was our inaugural swim meet fundraiser to support the important work of The Ottawa Hospital’s Rose Ages Breast Health Centre.
We had swimmers. We had fans. We had breast cancer survivors. We had Olympians. But most of all we had spirit and a commitment to making a difference.
That difference ended up being close to $19,000 raised towards crucial technology needs to help the Breast Health Centre.
That was year one. This is year two. And on Saturday April 6th, we’re going to make an even bigger splash. But we need your help.
If you’re wondering why you should support this swim fundraiser we have an easy answer for you.
Look around your family, or your neighbourhood. Is there a relative, or a friend, or co-worker you know who is struggling with breast cancer? Chances are your answer is yes. Because 1 in 8 women in Ottawa will face a breast cancer diagnosis this year. That’s why it matters to ALL of us.
In September of 2018, the brand new Breast Health Centre opened up on the hospital’s General campus and we were there with a cheque and our live painting of our 2018 OlymPINK swim event which we donated to the Centre
